The summer has pretty much arrived and as well as time for jetting off on holidays it’s also music festival season. With thousands and thousands of festival taking place all around the world it’s hard to decide which one to choose. If you are moving abroad, you may be able to experience a new music festival that you’ve never been to before. A music festival in or near your new destination may also be a good excuse to go and familiarise yourself with your new future surroundings! 1. Glastonbury
One of the most famous music festivals in Britain, located in Somerset. It’s a five-day music festival starting from Wednesday 25th June and ending on Sunday 29th June. Headline acts this year include; Lana Del Rey, Dolly Parton and Kasbian.
A four-day music festival held in Spain, which is on from 17th July until 20th July. Some of the acts playing at this festival are; Chase & Status, Tine Tempah, Lily Allen and Example.
3. Woodstock
Located at White Lake, in New York, Woodstock is known for “3 days of peace and music”, starting from 15th August. The genre of music varies but tends to be a mixture of different types of Rock and Folk music.
4. Coachella
Coachella is possibly one of the most famous music festivals around. This year it was on two weekends during April with general admission tickets selling out within 20 minutes and all other tickets including VIP passes being sold out in just 3 hours, so if you have it in mind for next year make sure you order asap!
5. Paleo
Paleo music festival located in Switzerland is mostly a volunteer-run festival, which welcomes hundreds of thousands of music lovers each year. As well as showing well known acts they also showcase up and coming ones too.
6. Ultra
One of the most popular electronic music festivals in the world, Ultra is based in Miami and will next be held in March 2015, but make sure to order your tickets asap as last year the early bird tickets sold out within just four minutes!
7. Sziget
Sziget Festival is one of the largest multicultural events in Europe being based in Budapest it attracts just under half a million festival-goers a year.
8. Rock In Rio
Rock In Rio is probably one of the most famous and popular rock based festivals. Each year it alters locations between Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Portugal. But in 2015 it will be held in Las Vegas for the first time ever.
9. Donauinselfest
Quite possibly one of the biggest festivals in the world, located on Danube Island, Austria it had way over 3 million people attend in 2013.
10. Pinkpop
Located in Megaland, Landgraaf, Holland this music festival has been going for over 40 years now and is Holland’s biggest music event.
