John Mason International working closely with Australian authorities following pet quarantine changes

Planning a move overseas is packed with many challenges. In fact, it’s a mammoth logistical exercise. Making the decision to up sticks is an exciting but nerve-racking experience – but it is just the start of a major and complex process.

Leading international removals specialist, John Mason International, has been helping people move their lives to far flung corners of the globe for almost a century. Its team of experts are trained to understand all the nuances and continuously changing rules and regulations involved – whichever country they are dealing with.

“Sometimes, we manage moves where individuals are relocating abroad – but often we look after entire families and their belongings when they move to countries on the other side of the world,” said John Mason International director, Simon Hood.

“And it doesn’t end with humans. Many of our customers count their cats or dogs among their treasured possessions – and we feel the same way. As a family business we appreciate, more than anyone, that much-loved four-legged friends play a hugely important role in people’s lives.

“Our Pet Relocation division is manned by experts with many years of experience under their belts. They are dedicated to ensuring treasured animals can move abroad and join their families, with the minimum of fuss or stress.

“With this in mind, we constantly monitor quarantine rules across the world. And, right now, there are important changes taking place in Australia.

“The country is rightly concerned about the rise in the number of cats and dogs travelling Down Under – and particularly in the rise in fraud, where animals are transported from countries with high levels of rabies, under the guise of originating from a ‘safe’ country like the United Kingdom.

“Rabies is still a significant risk, with those showing symptoms of the disease standing little chance of survival. Australia’s wildlife is also under threat from the increase in movement and fraud. So, the country has tripled the length of time cats and dogs must be quarantined when entering its territory, from 10 days to 30 days – if those bringing animals in are unable to satisfy authorities that their country of origin is ‘safe’. It is not enough just to ‘say’ your pet is travelling from the UK, you have to prove it.

“As experts in this field, John Mason International is in constant consultation with Australian authorities to ensure all our customers are able to travel in the knowledge that import permits, customs clearance and quarantine bookings are all taken care of. Not only that, but our partners in Australia will then ensure our families’ beloved pets are delivered to their brand new homes, safely and in comfort.

“I’m immensely proud of the way our excellent team ensures every little detail is taken care of in every aspect of our customers’ international moves, whether that involves the safe and enjoyable migration of humans – or of their little furry friends.
