Calling all serving UK police officers Western Australia wants to interview you…Chance to transfer your policing skills Down Under

If you’re a serving UK police officer and dream of living, working and playing amongst Australia’s outstanding cities, spectacular beaches and magnificent countryside – here’s an offer you might not be able to refuse.

As you read this, Western Australia Police Force is actively seeking 750 police officers to from overseas to fill a range of roles over the next five years. As part of the single largest policing jurisdiction in the world, officers who join the force could be deployed in a number of roles – from general duties to specialist units, forensics or detectives.

How are they going about their recruitment campaign?

They’re sending in the big guns. A high level delegation from Western Australia Police Force has been in the UK – scouring major cities in England, Scotland and Ireland with a view to persuading serving officers to move their lives Down Under.

With much unrest among constabularies across the UK – mainly due to understaffing and discontent over pay and conditions – there has already been a high level of interest among those wishing to transfer their skills to locations in Perth and across the vast land mass that makes up Western Australia.

The delegation has been meeting serving UK officers face-to-face, gauging concerns about their current situations, and listening to their aspirations for the future. And they have a lot to offer.

Apart from the obvious – the incredible climate, landscapes, welcoming communities and second-to-none sporting facilities – Western Australia offers the perfect solution for those seeking a higher standard of living.

With a promised starting salary of £47,000, compared to around £34,000 in the UK, the Aussie police are offering a fantastic opportunity to improve the quality of life of all those who make the move.

Many UK officers have already taken the decision to relocate their lives Down Under, and they don’t appear to be regretting it. Just to prove this, Western Australia Police has appointed some such officers to front their campaign, with much success.

They have been waxing lyrical about the lifestyle on offer – and the extra perks thrown in, like free fitness facilities and enhanced career development opportunities.

One such expat – a former Met Police officer – reflected that moving his family 9,000 miles away from London was the best decision he ever made, according to the Express online. The father-of-five now lives in Perth and, although he was keen to point out the work is still demanding and deals with all the usual policing activities – burglaries, domestic violence and robberies – the pros definitely outweigh the cons. He explained that the breathtaking weather and living just 15 minutes from the beach should be more than enough to persuade fellow UK officers to follow suit.
