Shipping Your Car to Singapore
If you would like to ship your car to Singapore, we can include this in your quotation. You can either ship your vehicle within your own exclusive use container or as part of our shared container service. We will need to know the car make and model so that we can work out the volume to be included in the shipment. Please see information below regarding the import of motor vehicles into Singapore:
Applying for An Import Permit
Once your car has been shipped to Singapore, you must apply for an assessment of the vehicle’s value. This valuation will determine the duty and import tax that you will have to pay. You will need to submit a valuation form along with the following documents:
- Commercial invoice
- Bill of lading
- Freight and insurance invoices
- Bills/receipts relating to incidental charges incurred during shipment
- Full manufacturer’s specification card (a listing of standard and optional equipment on the vehicle and unique for every vehicle)
- Completion Inspection Certificate (CIC) Paper
- Registration/De-registration documents from the country of exportation
- Manufacturer’s letter confirming date of vehicle’s manufacture
- Payment documents for the purchase (for example, telegraphic transfer slip)
- Clear photos of the odometer (showing mileage), interior, exterior and engine/chassis number (for used vehicles)
Duties and Goods & Services Tax (GST)
Once you have received an approval letter with the valuation of your car, you must submit an In-Payment (Duty and GST) permit through TradeNet. Once the In-payment (Duty and GST) permit is approved, you can use the permit to remove the vehicle from the port or licensed warehouse.
A registration fee (RF) of S$140 will be charged for each car you import. On top of this, an Additional Registration Fee (ARF) will be charged based on the value of your car:
Vehicle Value | ARF Fee |
First S$20,000 | 100% |
Next S$30000 | 140% |
Above S$50000 | 180% |
Excise Duty will also be charged at 20% of the car’s value.
Tax rebates are also available for low emission cars registered from 1 July 2015 to 31 December 2017:
Carbon Emission (CO2 g/km) | Rebate* |
CO2 < 95 | S$30,000 |
95 < CO2 < 105 | S$15,000 |
105 < CO2 < 120 | S$10,000 |
