Removals to Mainland Greece
Depending on your budget and transit time preference, we can offer both sea and road options to transport your household goods to Greece. During your pre-move survey or initial telephone call, we can advise the transportation methods available to you and help you decide which option would be best suited to your circumstances.
Removals to the Greek Islands
If you are moving to one of the Greek Islands, shipments will usually be routed through the Athens port of Piraeus.
Customs Requirements
If you are moving to Greece from an EU Country, duty free entry is permitted.
If you are moving from a non-EU country, the following regulations apply:
EU Nationals – a certificate of repatriation is required for duty free entry (a period of two years continuously living abroad is required in order to apply for this certificate from the Greece Embassy at the origin location. You will need to apply for the certificate at least one month before your move).
Non EU Nationals – duties and taxes are payable.
Customs Regulations can change on a regular basis so please contact us to confirm the above customs requirements. A copy of the most recent customs requirements will also be provided with your quotation.
Prohibited Items
We will provide a full list of prohibited items for your prior to your move. Customs restrictions are also in place with regards to the amount of alcohol which can be brought into the country, the restriction is currently no more than 3 cartons (a maximum of 12 bottles per carton). Live plants, stuffed animals and tobacco products are also prohibited as well as hazardous goods.
Air Freight shipments to Greece
Declaration and authorisation documentation is required in order to ship a personal air freight consignment to Greece. The documentation must be completed either at a Greek Embassy or Consulate in the origin country or at a police station or Citizen Service Centre (KEP) in Greece. Taxies and duties are payable on air freight shipments to Greece.
Importing a car / motorbike into Greece
The vehicle must conform to the most recent European manufacturing standards for cars or vehicles to be eligible for use on Greek roads. Documentation must also be completed at a Greek Embassy or at a police station or KEP centre in Greece prior to importing the car or motorbike.
