Road To Rio (Or, the Top 10 things to do in Brazil if you’re not a footie fan)

With FIFA 2014 in Brazil fast approaching there are many people fleeing the UK to go and watch. However, watching football isn’t everyone’s idea of a break so here is a list of the top 10 things to do in Brazil – for the non-footie fans!

1. Cristo Redentor (Statue of Christ the Redeemer)

Of course this world famous statue had to be in the top 10. It’s definitely well worth a visit if you’re in Brazil, plus the views are utterly unforgettable.

2. Theatre Municipal Do Rio De Janeiro

If you fancy something a bit different but completely mesmerizing then take a trip to this theatre whether it’s to watch a show or take a tour. The décor and architecture are incredible and likely to leave you a little speechless.

3. Prainha Beach

If some serious sunshine and relaxation is in order then the secluded Prainha beach surrounded by rocks and high cliffs is ideal.

4. Instituto Moreira Salles

Home to some incredible photography, literature, libraries, visual arts and Brazilian music, Instituto Moreira Salles is worth a visit if you’re into culture and arts.

5. Sugar Loaf Mountain (Pao de Acucar)

If you’re after some great photos or fancy seeing some of the best views Brazil has to offer then check this landmark out.

6. Botanical Garden of Sao Paul

Described as a calm, green and refreshing garden, it’s the perfect place to chill out for a bit whilst admiring Brazils nature.

7. Mirante Dona Marta

Another fantastic spot if you want to see some truly stunning views.

8. Catedral Metropolitana

Whether you’re into architecture or not, this landmark designed by award winning architect Oscar Niemeyer is worth a visit.

9. Sao Paulo Museum of Art Assis Chateaubriand

The building itself is a work of art offering an extensive and impressive collection of art.

10. Augusta Street

Augusta Street is known as “the hippest strip in town” offers plenty of shops, bars and nightclubs – plus there’s always a great atmosphere especially at night.

So if you do get the amazing chance to be in Brazil during the football then firstly we completely envy you but most importantly make sure to check out what else Brazil has to offer!
