According to the Halifax House Price Index, the average house price in the UK in October 2009 was £165,528 – an increase of 1.2% from September 2009. Overall, house prices in the UK have risen by 7.1% since the lowest point in April 2009.

Mortgage approval ratings have also improved, in October 2009, approvals were 68% higher than in September 2008.
