When you physically arrive in Canada following a move, you will be required to fill out a B4E declaration form which will be provided by the Customs agent. This is applicable to all returning Canadians, immigrants or temporary visa holders. In order to fill this out, you must have a copy of your inventory (which will have been provided to you on the collection day of the move) and a valued wine list (if applicable).

Customs Clearance

You will have to clear your household goods in person with Canadian customs before they can be released and subsequently delivered to you. This will involve a visit to your local Customs office in order to complete the required paperwork and documentation.

When you arrive in Canada, you will be contacted by your Move Manager. They will advise you on the next steps with regards to the process.

When your household effects are ready for customs clearance, a customs Abstract form will be prepared by your Move Manager. This will then be sent to Canada customs in order to arrange the visit to the Customs office, which will be organised at a pre-arranged time.  You will then be required to attend the appointment at the Customs office, taking with you all of the required paperwork. Your Move Manager will advise you of the paperwork required which will vary depending on if you are a Returning Canadian, an Immigrant, a Temporary visa holder or if you are shipping an inheritance shipment.

When you have confirmation that your goods have been cleared by customs, a delivery date will then be arranged with your Move Manager. At this stage, you will need to confirm the delivery address and access / parking restrictions at the residence. Storage is available if you do not yet have a delivery address, you can
speak to your Move Manager to arrange this. If you have already arranged to collect the shipment from the warehouse, at least 48 hours notice will be required.
